2014 Dutchess Heritage Lecture Series
Fergus Bordewich: The Road to Freedom: The Underground Railroad, the Hudson River Valley, and the War Against Slavery


What was Dutchess County’s role in America’s first racially-integrated political movement? Renowned author Fergus M. Bordewich will investigate the Underground Railroad’s organization, operation, and survival, along with the Hudson Valley’s role in the larger national system. The Mid-Hudson Antislavery Project will host a reception with refreshments graciously provided by the Poughkeepsie Ice House. Tickets are $10 pre-order, $15 at the door.

Outdoor (tent) festival featuring tastings presented by local Hudson Valley brewers. Tastings, food and music. The brewfest will recognize the contributions of Matthew Vassar, local brewer and founder of Vassar College.
